Genital herpes still carries a social stigma
Social
stigma of genital herpes is real, measurable and harmful. A concerted
effort needs to be taken to change perceptions of the condition and to
empower patients with positive messages. These are the findings of a Herpes
Stigma Colloquium recently organised by the American Social Health Association
(ASHA).

Trial For Women Hopes to Prevent Spread of Genital Herpes
Over
35 medical centres across the United States are participating in a nationwide
efficacy trial of an investigational genital herpes vaccine that may prevent
herpes infection in women. The investigational vaccine was well tolerated
and appears to have demonstrated clinical benefit in preliminary testing
and is now in a further clinical trial in the United States, the Herpevac
Trial for Women.
